When Spike pulled his little display, I was so mad at him. I thought for certain he'd sealed his own fate. And I was frustrated that people might vote for him based on his own stupidity, when I was certain he wasn't responsible for any of this week's deaths.
It made me realize that I couldn't condemn anyone I wasn't certain of.
Yeah... I get that. I didn't really want to vote for Suigetsu when we'd just done that investigation together and everything. But I thought he was probably the most likely, going off what we had. And I thought that not voting for him would make it more likely that someone I was sure was innocent would end up taking the fall instead. So I held my nose and did it.
[ sigh... ]
It's a rotten choice to have to make no matter how you look at it.
It is. And with three deaths this week... [She sighs, too.] I don't know if those responsible volunteered for the task or if the Angel appeared to them as to Bertholt, but it seems as though this week were intentionally designed to make us desperate.
Mm... yeah, I was pretty sure of that after the execution last week. It seemed like they really went out of their way to make it painful for everyone.
Though with everything this week... you know it's not just our memories in those shards? There are ones with memories of this city too. So I'm not sure if that part was really designed for us if they just brought us to a place that already had that stuff.
There were? [That's news to her.] I didn't see any memories beyond those of myself and the others we already knew.
I don't know that the city itself was one of their machinations; it seems more a convenient place to use for their own arena. But forcing four people to continuously duel to the death...? Or dropping the others into the catacombs? It's intentionally cruel.

You didn't want to condemn someone without knowing they really were guilty, right?

They seek to hurt us.
