I don't usually run into a lot of new people in the first place. If I do I'm probably showing 'em how to get around Calvalese or take down monsters instead. I've taught some of my kids how to do it, though.
[ She grabs her sewing stuff from the nightstand and puts it in her bag, and Radheya shifts to his bird form and perches on her shoulder.
And, since she's assuming the old geezer is Van Zieks-- ]
Oh, you know that guy's only thirty-three? He gets all huffy about it if you call him old.
Then he shouldn't act like he's sixty. [ Nagako slithers up his leg around his shoulders, ready to be carried around. It's a retort that's effortless as he thinks on the rest. ]
Right? By the time he's actually sixty, he's probably gonna look like someone dug him out of the ground.
[ Heading to the door, then! ]
Ahaha, sorry, not like that. I take care of all the orphans in my town so I just kind of call 'em that. They're more like little siblings, but everyone at home usually knows what I mean, so why use extra syllables.
[ He is not the first person she's confused with that, though. ]
Ami. [ Give him a moment he's just not used to talking about family like this because normally this only happens when someone Ami herself and she takes care of all the introductions for him. ]
She's a good kid who tries too hard to be an adult.
Yeah, I like making stuff like that too. I'm a pretty good cook, but I don't really do fancy recipes that are focused on presentation. What's most important is that it tastes good and keeps you going, and that you enjoy eating it.
Nothing great, but at least the selection of canned foods here is pretty good, and there's enough seasonings to help with any bland or weird tastes.
Oh, Ali brought these fresh fish back the other day, though! I added some of 'em to a stew I was already cooking when she came by, and it turned out pretty good... I dried some of the other ones so they could be preserved longer, since we don't have a good icebox or anything. So those should last us as long as we're here, at least.

Fine, whatever. Then I won't have to deal with that old geezer tomorrow. [ He says this but he actually gets up rather quickly. ]
You always teach people you barely know how to sew?

Ah, got it. I have a niece, well sister technically, and she's more than enough to keep me busy.

She's uh, ten? And her favorite singer is Momo Kuruse. What else do you want to know?

[ Hopefully she's just trying because she wants to be an adult and not because she needs to be. ]
Does she like tagging along with you?

Yeah, I babysit her when her mom works. She owns a bar, so it's a lot of late nights. She likes to help me cook and she's not bad at it either.

[ This is pretty wholesome. ]
How about a recipe you like making with her?

[ Sometimes Akira is wholesome and sometimes he is just punching guys. ]
Beef stir-fry because it's easy. I'm not a cook or anything, but it's cheaper than buying from the konbini every day.

Meat helps with all of that. Have you been able to make anything good here?

At least there's salt here even if there's still not enough soy sauce.
